1952-1976,1980: "Now how about the election this November. (1952-1964: Do you know if you are; 1968-1980: Are you) registered/eligible so that you could vote in the November election if you wanted to?"
1952,1978,1982-LATER: "Were you registered to vote in this election?"

Note:

1972 Form II respondents were not asked about registration; Form II nonvoters are not represented.
For 1952 cases without pre-election interviews, post-election registration data have been used.

2012 and 2016 data are for the combined (face-to-face and internet) sample.
