The 1980 Time Series study release contains corrupted data for some cases in variable V800713 (where did R grow up). For these cases, the postal state abbreviation appears only as a single alphabetic character. Non-corrupted responses to the question, coded according to the 1980 State and Country Master Code , are available here . In these corrected data, the responses are coded according to the state-country master code instead of postal abbreviation because the answers are restored from the ANES 1980 Merged File data, which recorded them in that manner.
