It has been discovered that the question wording in the codebook documentation for V880856 (preferential hiring and promotion) is incorrect. The actual wording is:

Some people say that because of past discrimination
blacks should be given preference in hiring and promotion.
Others say that such preference in hiring and promotion of
blacks is wrong because it gives blacks advantages they
haven’t earned. What about your opinion–are you for or
against preferential hiring and promotion of blacks?

Correct wording for this preferential hiring and promotion question appears in the 1988 questionnaire and is taken from Version B of 2 versions asked in 1986 (rather than version A).

Error in Table 4 of the codebook introduction: Stratum 21 should have SECU codes 11 and 29. Currently Table 4 shows Code 63 in both Stratum 21 and 29, but code 63 belongs only in Stratum 29.
