ANES Website Accessibility

The American National Election Studies (ANES) is committed to ensuring that our website and all digital content are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that equal access to election research and data is essential to our public mission.

ANES works continuously to comply with the U.S. Government’s Section 508 requirements for information and communication technologies, as well as with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

ANES maintains an extensive archive of historical election study materials dating back to the 1940s. Many of these documents predate current accessibility standards and have not yet been fully remediated. This includes scanned, image-only documents – particularly materials from earlier decades that were originally produced on paper – as well as born-digital PDFs for which remediation is still in progress.

Accessible alternative versions of these documents are available upon request. To submit a request, please use the accessibility request link in the footer. We will make every effort to provide an accessible version; however, response times may vary depending on the complexity of the document and staff availability (for example, during active data collection periods).

The ANES website is constantly evolving. We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website and digital content. If you have suggestions for improvement, please make a request at https://electionstudies.org/accessible-content-requests/.
