ANES Announcement: Three New Products Now Available

Dear American National Election Studies (ANES) User Community,

We’re very pleased to announce three new products that are available for immediate download from the ANES website (http://www.electionstudies.org):

An updated version of the ANES Cumulative Data File (CDF) is available from the Data Center. The updated version included 81 new variables, including, among others: content from the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES), newer versions of Presidential candidate traits evaluations, newer versions of respondent efficacy questions, authoritarianism questions, and political office recall items.

An updated version of the ANES 2016 Time Series Study is also available from the Data Center. The current release includes new sample variables, new pre/post summary variables, several previously unreleased Internet and face-to-face cases, improvements to missing data codes, the resolution of two errata from the prior release, and many additional minor edits to variable and value labels.

A new report “Comparing Face-to-face and Web Modes in the ANES 2016 Time Series Study” appears in our Technical Reports series under Papers & Documents. This reference document was created for researchers to use to compare questions across the two modes in the 2016 Time Series Study. It provides a comprehensive overview of the differences in means and distributions of each variable by mode of interview, grouped by topic for ease of use. Researchers interested in this report may have questions about how the Internet and face-to-face mode perform overall, or they may be concerned about how a particular question or variable of interest differs across the two modes.

We’re happy to answer any questions you have by email to: [email protected]

Best wishes,
The ANES project
