2020 Pilot Study Data Available

The purpose of the ANES 2020 Exploratory Testing Survey is to assess new questions under consideration for inclusion in the ANES 2020 Time Series Study, especially related to novel issues arising in the election year, question wording effects, and the scaling properties of lengthy question batteries. Data files can be downloaded from the Data Center.

Announcement to the American National Election Studies (ANES) User Community

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we recently made the difficult decision to eliminate face-to-face interviewing from the ANES data collection that is to occur before and after the November 2020 presidential election in the United States. Instead, we will be pursuing a mixed-mode study design that is contactless and comprised of a combination of Internet, video, and telephone interviews. Read the full announcement

2019 Pilot Study Data Available

The 2019 Pilot Study is now available for download from the Data Center. This study is a cross-sectional survey conducted to test new questions under consideration for potential inclusion in the ANES 2020 Time Series Study and to provide data about voting and public opinion in the early stage of the 2020 presidential primary campaign.
