ANES Announcement: 2020 Restricted Data and New Redacted Open-Ended Datasets

September 9, 2021

Dear ANES User Community:

Two restricted datasets from the ANES 2020 Time Series Study are now available to be applied for from ICPSR: Geocodes, and Respondent Birthdates. Two additional restricted datasets from the ANES 2020 Time Series study will be available from ICPSR within a few weeks of this email: Income, and Race/Nationality/Immigration.

Previously, open-ended responses to ANES surveys were only available through restricted data applications. Since then, ANES has been redacting responses to remove identifying information and allow them to be made publicly available. We are pleased to announce that the following two redacted files are now newly available for immediate download: Likes-Dislikes for the ANES 1984-2004 Time Series Studies, and Most Important Problem for the ANES 1984-2000 Time Series Studies.

For more information on how to obtain each of the above datasets, as well as other similar datasets, please visit the ANES website at: https://electionstudies.org/data-center/restricted-data-access/

Best regards,
The ANES project
